
Williams F1 has appointed former Lotus director of engineering Paul Newsome to head its development team for the Jaguar C-X75 road car.
Newsome was educated in mechanical engineering at Sheffield University, and joined the Rover Group in 1984, then BMW Group from 1997, where he worked on the re-launch of the MINI Cooper.
He moved to Jaguar Land Rover as group chief engineer for advanced product creation and research in 2001, where he led the concept creation of the T5 platform with its products Discovery 3 and Range Rover Sport and Jaguar XF and XJ.
Newsome joined Lotus in 2007 as director of engineering, responsible for the design and development of Lotus cars and the company's engineering consultancy Lotus Engineering. He presided over the engineering of Lotus Evora, Evora S and the new product concepts unveiled at the 2010 Paris Motorshow.
Newsome will lead the C-X75 joint project team from its base at Williams F1’s headquarters in Grove, UK.
